Biggest Dust Storm in history affects eastern Australia

Last Wednesday, the biggest dust storm in history swept through eastern Australia, the visbility was down to 10 metres in Sydney, many flights in and out of Kingsford Smith International Airport had to be delayed or diverted, in Brisbane 70km/h winds brought down trees onto powerlines triggering power blackouts, the dust storm was caused by a strong cold front coming up from South Australia, the front also brought snow to the Australian Alps and hail to parts of New South Wales.

Drought situation worsens in Eastern Australia , Severe Weather in Victoria,

It has been over 40 days since we had any reasonable falls of rain here in south east Queensland, it also has been unseasonably warm for this time of year, temperatures as high as 30 degrees have been recorded, a very bad fire season is predicted for this summer, possibly rivaling the Black Saturday bushfires. Severe storms have been affecting Victoria, wind gusts up to 130 km/h have been recorded.
